I noticed an increased boot time on my X38 board since there is an extra window in which all the SATA devices get recognized, but no difference on my X board that doesn’t have a separate AHCI bootup window. Thanks cdoublejj – yesterday evening I also located the problem and is was exactly the same as you described – even though it felt that the ssd was correctly mounted in the connector it wasn’t so when I installed the ssd by holding the laptop over my head when sliding the ssd in it did attach correctly – and yes – it must be because the ssd is thinner. I tried install it in a Packard Bell just to see if the bios would recognize it – and it did. Email required Address never made public. I have the latest updates on everything from Dell m bios A15 etc. Log in or Sign up. Yupe finally got my after 3.

Do you also hear a high pitch noise from your SSD drive? I noticed an increased boot time on my X38 board since there is an extra window in which all the SATA devices get recognized, but no difference on my X board that doesn’t have a separate AHCI bootup window.
Stop 7b, ATA and AHCI on a Dell M | Pete’s Place
I have to spend some time googling and hunting for the drivers. I then stuck the drive in a Dell D which has a different video adapter and it booted fine. I was blaming it on video driver corruption from the video fault. I would suggest you either fiddle around with it if you are feeling braveor just use regular ATA mode for your hard drive.
